Tarot spreads - the cup of relationships
© Crystal Sage 1997 - from her online magazine
(reproduced in the March 1997 issue of The Magician)
"I thought I'd share with you a simple layout that I created myself. I really couldn't find, in any of the books that I have (and I have quite a few!) a layout specifically meant to be used for relationship questions. You know "Will so and so and I have a good relationship? What will happen to our friendship?"
It's called The Cup of Relationships, because it looks like a cup. Significators can be chosen ahead of time or drawn as part of the reading. Draw cards in order, starting with S1, S2, 1, 2, 3 etc. As always, additional cards could be placed with #9 to clarify fuzzy readings or questions.

Read cards in order. Card 4 should be placed across card 3. Cards 5/7 and 6/8 should be staggered, forming a cup shape.
- The foundation of the relationship
- Recent past
- Current state of the relationship
- Obstacles the both face
- Views of partner #1 regarding the relationship
- Views of partner #2 regarding the relationship
- Expectations of partner #1regarding the relationship
- Expectations of partner #2 regarding the relationship
- Best outcome
